We will be participating in a food drive for Urban Ministries in our old Mordecai neighborhood during two Saturdays in October. On the first Saturday (10/19), we will drop off paper bags to be filled by residents. On the following Saturday (10/26), we will return to pick up the food-filled bags to donate. Please join us for either or both of these days. You can also donate food in the CTC church lobby from 10/13 to 10/27. Let's join Ridge Road, who is partnering with Welcome House Raleigh, to provide a Thanksgiving *meal to 100+ refugee families on our church campus. Help needed with set-up, clean-up, sides and desserts, kids' games/crafts, as well as greeters and general help. This is a kid-friendly event and any help is welcome, even if you can only come for part of the event. General Schedule: Set-up from 12:00-1:30 Guests arrive around 1:30 (greet and host) Eat together from 2:30-3:30 Clean-up from 3:30-4:00ish *Meal included for all volunteers. Register
Help us spread Christmas cheer with the CTC kids during our annual Winter Workshop! Kids will have the chance during church time to shop for their loved ones and bring home wrapped presents to put under the tree. Please help by bringing small, unwrapped gift items to donate. Come join our creative collective that meets every second Saturday. If you are a little artsy? Or you just like art. It doesn't matter if you have never been creative—come anyway. It has been proven that participating in the arts in any form will rewire your brain to help you become less stressed as well as healthier and happier. This is an informal gathering for a few hours on a Saturday where folks can work on any sort of "artsy" project they'd like. But there will be a theme each month in case you would like to participate. The theme will be explained on the sign up page in notes prior to the weekend. BYO supplies There will be a suggested list in the notes. (although we can find plenty of markers etc. at the church) You may also bring a snack for yourself or anything to share. Supervised children are welcome. We will meet in the Teen Room unless there are too many that have signed up. It will be posted on the entry door if this is the case. Come join us for a Community Vision / Contemplative Retreat at Common Thread! Using the ancient Benedictine rhythm of "Ora et Labora" (prayer and work) to structure our time together, our retreat will include: Coffee and snacks when you arrive Sacred chant and music Communal movement Guided meditation / contemplative practices Opportunities for intentional silence A podcast-style conversation with Jack and Sue A full lunch Communal Listening - Visioning Session (afternoon) CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED OPTIONAL COMMUNAL DINNER OUT AFTER A detailed agenda will be emailed to folks who register the week prior to the event. We hope you'll be able to stay for the whole day - to ground yourself in the rhythms of the practices in the morning in order to bring clearer intentions to the afternoon's listening session, but there is no obligation at all to do so.
