Join us as Common Thread Church partners with HOPE Ministries and Garner United Methodist to bless our unhoused neighbors in the Raleigh/Garner area in a day of service that is "here.now.small.doable." Event Day We’ll be serving breakfast, offering showers, and distributing clothing to those in need. Common Thread’s Role: Cooking and serving hot grits with toppings & assisting with shower stations. Garner UMC’s Role: Serving bagels with cream cheese, assisting with showers, and distributing clothing. Ways You Can Help: Volunteer – Come on the day of the event to help cook and serve grits, assist with shower coordination, and offer hospitality. Donate + Volunteer – Contribute toward food supplies and serve on the day of the event. Donate Only – Help cover the cost of grits, toppings, and other supplies like bowls and spoons even if you can’t be there in person. Clothing Collection (9/13-9/27): We are collecting men’s pants, belts, and shirts to bless our guests. Please bring donations to church in the weeks leading up to the event. The annual picnic this year will be a BYO at the Museum of Art. We will meet up right after church under the trees by the amphitheater. Please bring: Your own picnic Blanket and/or chairs Balls, frisbees, kites, or games if you have them Register
The CTC Brew Crew typically meets the first Sunday of the month from 4-6 p.m. at rotating locations. And don’t worry if you don’t drink beer—join us for a soda instead. Observe the Board onsite or on Zoom at their quarterly meetings. Open to anyone in the directory. Quarterly Open Board meetings take place in the conference room (#205) are an opportunity for anyone currently in the directory to observe the happenings of the Board. In lieu of a formal petition process the Board Chair will ensure time is reserved on the agenda for topics brought forth by observers in attendance. When we observe ourselves feeling and reacting from unsettling emotions like anger, sadness, and fear, the self awareness practice helps us investigate so we can release stories and patterns that no longer serve our wellbeing and so we can embrace ourselves and others with more compassion and grace. If you want to learn more about the self awareness practice, please drop in and observe 2 members of the Common Thread Community do this practice together. No prior knowledge or experience is required and everyone is invited and welcome. We will meet in Room 209. Feel free to bring your lunch/snack if desired.
