Trauma Support Group Formation

Last chance to sign up, Groups start 6/25! At Common Thread, we’re creating a soft, confidential space for those carrying trauma—recent or long-held—to gently begin the work of naming, sharing, and releasing. This is not therapy, and no one will try to fix, save, or correct. Instead, we’ll unpack our stories slowly, kindly—honoring each story as it’s told, just as it was experienced. Led by the Rev. Heather Olson, who as a Veteran’s Administration chaplain has been trained and grounded in VA trauma support models, this pilot program will include nervous system regulating and contemplative practices. The group will follow a loose arc over six sessions, living into values that support healing and well-being. There’s room for gut-led facilitation, poetry, and silence too. If you’ve been carrying something for a long time, or just need to be witnessed in a safe and sacred circle, you are welcome here. Please sign up below with your session of choice. The groups will be capped at 8 participants. Sign Up

Drop-In Self Awareness

Drop-In Self-Awareness

Room 209

When we observe ourselves feeling and reacting from unsettling emotions like anger, sadness, and fear, the self awareness practice helps us investigate so we can release stories and patterns that no longer serve our wellbeing and so we can embrace ourselves and others with more compassion and grace. If you want to learn more about the self awareness practice, please drop in and observe 2 members of the Common Thread Community do this practice together. No prior knowledge or experience is required and everyone is invited and welcome. We will meet in Room 209. Feel free to bring your lunch/snack if desired. Help at Out! Raleigh Pride

Corner of East Edenton and Wilmington Streets, Downtown Raleigh

Last year, we hosted a booth. This year, we're focusing on what we do best: showing up as a calm, powerful presence in the storm. At Out! Raleigh, while thousands of people gather to celebrate inclusion and joy, protestors often gather to condemn and shame. Instead of matching their noise, we plan to show up with quiet strength—offering love, dignity, and grounded presence. We’re organizing two gathering times: 11:00am and 1:00pm. Please sign up for one or both. We’ll meet at the corner of East Edenton and Wilmington Streets (by the Capitol) and walk together to wherever the protestors are. Sue will be there and hopes you will join her to stand in the truth that love wins. Every time. Register Alternatively, sign up to volunteer directly with the LGBT center at this event → More info about Out! Raleigh Pride →
