Come join our creative collective that meets every second Saturday. If you are a little artsy? Or you just like art. It doesn't matter if you have never been creative—come anyway. It has been proven that participating in the arts in any form will rewire your brain to help you become less stressed as well as healthier and happier. This is an informal gathering for a few hours on a Saturday where folks can work on any sort of "artsy" project they'd like. But there will be a theme each month in case you would like to participate. The theme will be explained on the sign up page in notes prior to the weekend. BYO supplies There will be a suggested list in the notes. (although we can find plenty of markers etc. at the church) You may also bring a snack for yourself or anything to share. Supervised children are welcome. We will meet in the Teen Room unless there are too many that have signed up. It will be posted on the entry door if this is the case. Come join us for a Community Vision / Contemplative Retreat at Common Thread! Using the ancient Benedictine rhythm of "Ora et Labora" (prayer and work) to structure our time together, our retreat will include: Coffee and snacks when you arrive Sacred chant and music Communal movement Guided meditation / contemplative practices Opportunities for intentional silence A podcast-style conversation with Jack and Sue A full lunch Communal Listening - Visioning Session (afternoon) CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED OPTIONAL COMMUNAL DINNER OUT AFTER A detailed agenda will be emailed to folks who register the week prior to the event. We hope you'll be able to stay for the whole day - to ground yourself in the rhythms of the practices in the morning in order to bring clearer intentions to the afternoon's listening session, but there is no obligation at all to do so. This is a joint event with Ridge Road. We need 40 volunteers on 2/23 to pack meals for the non-profit Rise Against Hunger. This is a kid-friendly event. Help transform the chapel into a packaging space to put together hundreds of meal kits for those in need. Come kick off the Lenten season with a Mardi Gras brunch in the chapel as church is starting on 3/2. The church will provide the coffee and tea. Join Preston and others for a relaxed bike ride along the Raleigh Greenway! We'll start at Anderson Point Park and ride to Walnut Creek North Park, where we'll take a short break for a light snack. The total ride, including the break, should take about 1.5 hours. Both our starting point and turnaround point have restrooms. Please bring water and any light snacks you'd like for the ride. For April: Collage Workshop Discover the endless creative fun of collage in this free hands-on class led by enthusiast Dawn Ronco. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced artist, you’ll arrange interesting papers and other fodder into small works of art with your unique style. All materials and supplies included. We will have different hunts for different ages, activities, bubbles and pictures with the Easter Bunny.
