If hospitality is about tea cozies and finger sandwiches, it’d just be a matter of tidying up the house and having people over.
But in the spiritual tradition, hospitality is a much more demanding proposition. It means “radical inclusion of the other, the outsider, the stranger.” In that context, we might need some prep work in our souls. In particular, we need an inner transformation to help us transcend our identities as members of this group or that, transcend our labels as this kind of person or that.
