Today is part 2 of a lesson on self-control because I (Doug) need more of it!
A man (or a woman) without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls (Proverbs 25:28)
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
Self-control is a fight between the lower (reptilian) part of our brain and the smart (reasoning) part. Unfortunately, the lower part of our brain has had a lot more practice and it fights “dirty”. We have to have a strategy other than trying to overcome the lower part of the brain with sheer will-power and beating ourselves up with guilt when we fail.
Have a listen,
