Life is messy.
Institutional, organized religion would prefer we ignore that inconvenient reality. Institutions work so much better when truth is fixed and expectations are normalized.
But organized religion is in trouble.
And truth – and wisdom – and the sources we search to find them – just don’t lend themselves to the tidiness organized religion prefers. Truth is complex and messy.When this uncomfortable reality overtakes us, many decide to bail on religion. After all, the only thing institutional religion peddles is a fixed-truth worldview.
But as you can imagine if you’ve listened long, we don’t think abandoning the spiritual/religious life is the only – or the best – option.
