Five hundred years ago, Enlightenment scientists told us all things exist independently. All the social and cultural institutions we now live in, were built on instincts drawn from that basic understanding. Consequently, Western society — and especially the US — lives in a strong soup of hyper-individualism.
But if, as quantum scientists have now discovered, everything is connected, then no wonder building our society on that old framework causes so much suffering and fear. Insight into our deep connectedness demands we learn the skills to live in this new reality – the skills of authentic community-making.
And what do you know?! Jesus taught us that same thing a long time ago.
